The 27 Club’s Newest Member

We all knew she was no good, but like so many young musicians these days, we somehow forget that they’re not invincible. Found dead in her flat on the 23rd of July 2011, Amy Winehouse died at the young age of 27, becoming just another number to join the club…literally. However, Amy Winehouse’s music is not going to be forgotten quickly, as her eclectic mix of genres such as blues, r&b and soul music quickly gathered her a well-deserved fan base. Like many other members of the 27 Club, we hope Amy will ‘live on’ through her music.

The 27 Club is a group of influential musicians who have all, somewhat suspiciously, died at the age of 27. However, instead of dwelling on Amy’s death and it’s causes (which has seemed to cause a lot of controversy between everyone on facebook, but let’s not get into that), let’s celebrate not only her music, but also music of other members from the 27 club. This playlist features music from Nirvana, The Doors and The Jimi Hendrix Experience, all of which feature members from The 27 Club, and all of which have made music that Coda think you should listen to. So, here it is on spotify.
